Brightspot Market was established in 2009. The objective of the event is to present young, independent fashion and product designers along side unique retailers and international streewear brands. This event has been continually been held every year from 2009. From just about 5000 visitors that came to the event in 2009, in 2012 the visitors has increased a lot to 57000. The popularity of the event has created some kind of cultural phenomenon.
I went to the Brightspot Market 2013 that was being held in Grand Indonesia Shopping Mall on the 14th – 17th of February 2013. There were an estimated of more than 100 brands that participated in the event. Brands that were participating were, Cottonink, Milcah, Aksara, Gudily, LOUSHKII, ToiMoi, Petite Cupcakes and many more.
I like going to the event, because I can get a lot of cool things all in one place. From clothes, shoes, accessories to bags, they are all presented in the event. The qualities of the things that are being sold are also great. The atmosphere of the event is simple but quiet engaging at the same time. But, I think that the place should be bigger because the visitors are a lot and when the place is too crowded it is hard to shop and become uncomfortable.
Indonesia Fashion Week was being held in Jakarta Convention Centre (JCC) on the 14th of February 2013. The event combines fashion shows and trade shows with the objective to develop the growth of local fashion industry. Not only presenting fashion shows from a lot of local designers, the event also gives a complete fashion exhibition. The fashion exhibition includes woman’s wear, men’s wear and kids wear, accessories and textile, seminars and competition.
In one day, there are an estimated of 30 designers that showcased their fashion collection. Designers ranging from seniors to new or semi prime are gathered in the event. The fashion shows started with the collection such as, Stylopedia, Malolo a Journey to Mandar (Ivan Gunawan), Downy Presents Fashion to Attraction (Auguste Soesastro), Pantene Presents Beauty Discovery (Jeanny Ang) and BNI Presents Renown Culture (Denny Irawan, Rudy Chandra, Sofie, and Melinda Looi).
When I went to the event, I really enjoyed the atmosphere there. Even though the event was very crowded but there were a lot of interesting activities. The existence of an estimated about 500 local brands in the exhibition is also one of my favorite part because I can get a lot new knowledge towards the fashion industry in Indonesia and also at the same time being proud towards Indonesia’s products.
The website is very useful for me actually. I get a lot of beneficial information from the articles. The articles that it writes relate well with the people in the business industry, especially with start-ups and small businesses. The website classifies the article into categories such as, news and trend, start up basics, money and finance, sales and marketing and technology. I think the classification of the articles is very helpful for the users. The title for most of the articles that I have found is also very cleverly planned to attract attention. The only down side of the website in my point of view is only regarding the layout and design of the website. I don’t think that the website is attractive enough in the matter of layout and design. It’s kind of boring. I think more improvement towards the website design and layout is needed by adding more color and using more attractive visuals inside it.

The website, an online fashion and trend forecasting agency which is based in London, also provides online membership for insider access to the most directional fashion trends and forecast. The trend areas that the website covers consists of trend forecast, color prediction, material and textures, print and graphics, catwalk analysis, global retail trends, trade shows and many more. The trend tool also has client base ranges from start ups, manufacturers and retailers such as, L’Oreal, Hugo Boss, Li & Fung and etc.
I really love this website! I can even point out any negative comments about the website. It really is perfectly made. Even though I am not really that much into fashion but the website kind of drawn me into it. The layout of the website is very attractive with a lot of colors and beautiful visuals. Besides that, the website has an easy navigation towards their features. The words that are used in the website is also easy to understand.
